Case Study:

E-commerce Website Refresh; Simplified User-Flow,
Modular Contentful Templates.

We were approached to give UI/UX support to the creative team at D.M.C, who were in the process of refreshing their e-commerce site. The refresh was due to a number of reasons, for example – user flow friction (especially at checkout), technical (switching API platforms to Contentful) and to reflect their updated brand aesthetic.

Our main focus was to translate the existing wireframes to functional hi-res prototypes and deliver these to the developer team, ensuring the website was delivered efficiently and on time.

During the process we refined the user flows, simplifying actions that in the past had proved painful to users. We also developed and centralised the Design System / Component library and constructed modular templates, which – when translated into Contentful API components – enabled the client to build new pages and sections quickly and consistently.

Project deliverables:

  • Functional hi-res prototypes

  • UX user flow simplification, focussing on checkout and add-to-basket flows

  • Modular content templates converted to Contentful (API) components

  • Central Design System / Component library

  • Developer handover - notes, progress meetings, Linear App management

Collaborative, problem solver, detail oriented combined with great creative and design skills, Jonas is super efficient and was key in the launch of our brand new DMC website. Definitely recommend!

Working with teams spanning Asian, European and Canadian timezones meant that workflow and communication had to be seamless. The natural loop of UX design (Form & Function in Singapore), with client direction (D.M.C. in London) followed by developer support (Supergood in Victoria, Canada), allowed for a virtual 24 hour working cycle.

That is, by the time UX work had been discussed and practically considered, feedback could then be addressed in the morning, and the client could see the results first thing iwhen they woke up.

This efficiency led to most hi-res prototypes being delivered within 6 months, with product launch 8 months after the project start date. Overall, the outcome was a simpler, smarter website, which most importantly has seen increased revenue from the site, reduced bounce rate and less cart abandonment.

Work is in the pipeline to simplify parts of D.M.C’s sister website, WoolAndTheGang, so again – watch this space!
